Frequently Asked Questions
-
I work with adults aged 18 and above, who are looking to gain insights into the past; reprocess and repair any earlier adverse experiences or traumas (if necessary); repair relations with themselves, early-life caregivers, their loved ones; establish a clarified understanding of their unique values; and navigate life transitions in a new values-informed way of living.
In particular, a specialization of mine is working with young adults aged 18-29, who are looking to repair early-life attachment wounds, explore interpersonal dynamics, navigate romantic relationships and the modern dating context, develop self-compassion and mindfulness, explore self-identity and personal values, and implementing new insights and strategies to help them "live a life worth living".

Telehealth is a wonderful tool to make psychotherapy services accessible, from the emotional comfort and safety of your home. To be able to work together, you will need a secure & private bedroom or office from home that you feel safe in, a laptop/computer (smartphones not included), preferably headphones, and a high-speed wifi/internet set-up.
Sessions on your phone are not permitted due to the high likelihood of distractions and may result in the early termination of our session. This will be covered more in our informed consent debrief.

Within the psychotherapeutic relationship, it is important to establish trust, safety, and consistency as a collaborative team. My clinical approach is to maintain regular weekly sessions, to see the psychotherapeutic process through.
As progress is made, we can check in and decide whether it is an appropriate time to reduce the frequency of sessions.

Currently, the psychotherapy I choose to provide is limited to individual sessions for adults, aged 18 and above.

You will be asked to provide a working and current credit card on my secure scheduling healthcare system to be able to book a session.
Session fees will be charged on your credit card, on the day of the session. Late fees will be charged to your credit card at the time of notice, or the missed session.

A receipt of services is provided after each session, for your records. You are welcome to inquire with your insurance if psychotherapy services provided by a "Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C)" are covered, and to what extent. However, I cannot provide any guarantees of coverage, or direct billing.

Yes, I offer sessions longer than the standard 50-minute psychotherapy hour. Options include 75 or 90 minute sessions. These extended sessions can be extremely valuable for trauma desensitization and reprocessing sessions.
Extended sessions are required for EMDR (trauma desensitization & reprocessing) sessions, to ensure enough time is allocated to this process. These sessions are booked ahead of time, when discussing treatment planning.
